Omagh CBS made it through to the semi final of the 2012 Rannafast Cup following a two point win over a talented St Pat’s Armagh outfit. Omagh began the game brightly with points from Michael Corless and Shane McGuigan and a point from Aiden McSorley put the Omagh school three in front. Almost immediately they added a goal from Andrew Mc Grath following great work by shane Mc Guigan. Another 2 points in quick succession from McSorley and Corless meant that Omagh found themselves in total control 1-5 to no score up with 15 minutes played.
Just when it seemed that the Tyrone lads would run away with the game Armagh kicked into gear getting their first two points of the game. However Omagh responded positively to rattle off another 3 points from Padraig McGirr, Aiden Fullerton and an Andrew McGrath free. Armagh scored the last point of the half to leave the half time score Omagh 1.8 Armagh 0.3.
The second half began with greater intensity as Armagh sought a way back into the game but it was Omagh who came closest to scoring but failed to find the target from several good chances. Armagh moved up a gear and began to dominate around the middle sector for the next 15 minutes and such was their dominance and control that with less than 10 minutes to go found themselves a point behind. Aiden Mc Sorley started to get more involved picking up possession and delivering quality ball inside for Patrick O’Neill and Michael Corless to pick off scores. Armagh battled hard and levelled the game once again. Just when it seemed the game was destined for extra time the game was destined for extra time up popped Aiden Fullerton to kick over the lead point before Padraig McGirr added a further insurance point with time up on the clock.
