Holy Trinity Through To All Ireland Final.

Holy Trinity Cookstown have made a brilliant start to their All Ireland Vocational Schools semi final against Clonakilty. After twenty five minutes of the opening half the Cookstown school boys lead 1-8 to a point with Declan Mc Clure swinging over four frees while Pomeroy lad John Loughran has hit 1-1 from play. Ciaran Mc Geary, Barry Potter and James Mc Gahan have added points apiece with Mc Gahan in particular causing huge trouble for the Cork defence.

With the whistle sounding for half time Holy Trinity have maintained their good form and lead 1-12 to 1-2 at the break. It has been a reasonably positive display from the Cookstown lads and hopefully they can maintain that form in the second half.

Holy Trinity have begun the second half where they left off in the first. A brilliant goal from James Mc Gahan and a fine Ciaran Mc Geary point stretch the lead and with seven minutes of the second half played it is now 2-13 to 1-4 for the Cookstown lads.

Clonakilty are not prepared to give up without a fight and win a penalty on eighteen minutes. Holy Trinity goalkeeper Anthony Mc Kenna does brilliantly to save the spot kick and deny the Cork lads any sense of hope.

With four minutes to go Clonakilty close the gap to 2-14 to 2-5 having scored 1-1 in the space of a minute. At this stage however it would take a total collapse from the Ulster champions to let this one slip.

And that is how it finishes. Holy Trinity can now look forward to a date in Croke Park and an All Ireland Vocational Schools final. This was a first class team display but team mentors Adrian O’Donnell and Peter Canavan will be demanding more from their charges if they are to lift the title.
